The people in Wichita, AKA Sedgwick County, did worse during covid than pack on a few extra pounds. They started driving extremely dangerously. In fact more Kansans were dying on Sedgwick roads after the pandemic than any other county in the state. We had to do something to sound the alarm and change behaviors. So we turned to those whose lives were hit the hardest by those who risk it all behind the wheel: Sedgwick survivors.

Delicately but deliberately, I crafted questions tailored to each survivor's story. I then pushed on the bruise of their history to gain relevant and memorable insight into what it means to lose someone in this way. It was without question, the hardest series of interviews I have undergone in my career.
